About NFLA

    The North Florida Library Association (NFLA) is a professional
    organization serving information professionals from academic,
    public, school,  and special libraries in the Capital Regional Area
    (Gadsden, Leon, Jefferson, and Wakulla counties).  There are
    approximately 200 libraries represented in the Capital Regional Area.

    The NFLA was established in 1982 to encourage communication
    and cooperation among persons concerned with libraries and
    information centers and to foster community awareness of library
    related issues.   The goals and objectives of the NFLA are to
    •        Encourage and support communication and cooperation
    •        Facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources
    •        Provide continuing education opportunities
    •        Foster community awareness of library issues
    •        Promote membership in the association

    The NFLA goals and objectives are accomplished primarily through
    its programs and  publications.  Programs include but are not limited
    to the following:
    •        Dine and Discover
    •        Career Night at FSU College of Information
    •        Membership Drive
    •        Winter Festival of Writers
    •        Weed and Seed
    •        Continuing Education Workshops
    •        Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner

    NFLA publishes the Fast Facts Newsletter on a quarterly basis and
    the NFLA Web site.  An E-forum (threaded bulletin board) is included
    on the Web site to facilitate communication and sharing among
    members.

    The NFLA business year is from July 1 to June 30.  Membership
    dues are $20 ($10 retirees and $5 students) and are due before the
    first day of the official year to maintain membership.  Interested
    individuals may join as a member anytime throughout the year.
