He has a BA in History (Middle East) from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, and completed degree work in Anthropology at the University of Georgia, as well as an MLIS from the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois. Prior to working at FSU George was the head of Library Evening Services for Parkland College Library, and an Instructor teaching Middle East History, Humanities, and Anthropology at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois. He is the former head of the Library Technology/Network Services Department for the Florida State University Libraries.
